Revelation 3:7-8: “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”
Dave Gibson, U.S. Director for Go2020, invites us to join him to pray for B.O.B. every day:
- Burden for the lost (Romans 9:1-5)
- Open doors for the Gospel (Colossians 4:3)
- Boldness to share (Ephesians 6:19-20)
We are challenged to not only pray, but also put our feet to our prayers. Today’s passage will encourage us with the promises and power of God when we take that step.
Each of us receives a call from God–every follower of Christ, no matter the age or stage of life–yet we are not called alone, but together as the Church, aided by the promises and power of God. God is the one who opens the door in each community for those to hear the Gospel. He opens the hearts of the hearers when we respond in obedience to share the message of salvation. The promise to the church of Philadelphia is God’s promise to us as well: He has set before us an open door that no one is able to shut. God is still faithful to open doors and accomplishes his plans through us.
