2 Timothy 4:5: “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”
We started the month talking about breaking out of our comfort zones, but sometimes our responsibility can be burdensome. Today, we can be encouraged by God’s word to endure.
As we alluded to yesterday, sharing our faith can be difficult. It could bring us into a period of suffering when people resist us, scorn us, or reject our Lord Jesus Christ. We are not given the luxury of going into hiding or giving up. In this passage, Paul’s charge to Timothy also reminds us to always fulfill our calling to evangelize, no matter what it may cost us.
When we obey this charge, God will use us in more ways than we can imagine. We are like the ancient farmer: we scatter Gospel seeds wherever we go and leave the results up to God. God has promised that we will be blessed when we obey Him. We are called to be doers of the word and not just hearers, and, as we obey God, He will use His Word to change people’s lives. So, no matter what happens or what we have to endure, let’s evangelize!
