Matthew 10:32-33 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.”
Have you ever had a significant person in your life (teacher, boss, pastor, celebrity) acknowledge you before others? Wow! Can you imagine Jesus being proud you before his Father in heaven? Our reading tells us that Jesus will acknowledge us if we acknowledge him before those we know here on earth. How do we acknowledge Jesus in that way?
Have you ever denied knowing Jesus? It might not get headlines like Peter’s denial did, but it still is equally harmful when we don’t acknowledge Jesus’s place in our lives. What does Jesus say he will do if we deny him?
Let’s ask God today to give us courage and boldness to acknowledge Jesus to those around us today. Not in some cheesy forceful way, but let’s plead with God to give us holy, love-filled hearts that long to see lost people come to know Jesus. Let’s ask for God’s love to overflow through us so acknowledging Him before others would be natural and instinctive.
